Poem of the Day: “Voices” by Sierra July, Frequent Contributor

Voices
Sierra July

Voices find everyone.
They’re in crowds, stumbling over each other
They’re pouring from our TVs, radios
They’re in our heads, even
With our mouths shut tight, just
When all seems right, peaceful,
Silent – Voices find us.

Poet’s Notes: Thinking of a beautiful movie titled Children Who Chase Lost Voices, I thought, “Do we chase voices, or are they chasing us?” I wanted to set a horror-mode here.

Editor’s Note:  I missed the horror-element and read a more upbeat poem here--perhaps the piece works both ways.
