Poem of the Day: “My X-Files” by Lauren McBride, Frequent Contributor and Poet of the Week

Songs of Eretz Poetry Review is pleased to present “My X-Files” by Lauren McBride, a Songs of Eretz Frequent Contributor and this week's Poet of the Week.  A biography of Mrs. McBride may be found in the “About Our Editor & Frequent Contributors” section.

My X-Files
Lauren McBride

On blue days
and Tuesdays,
I stroll among

my poems
that yearn yet
for publication -

sampling, tasting,
letting their words
l i n g e r

on my tongue,
listening
to them

each one wondering
"What's wrong
with me?"

Poet’s Notes: In a moment of whimsy, I felt compelled to give voice to those poor poems marked with the dreaded red X for having suffered the indignity of multiple rejections.
