Poem of the Day: “Life without Makeup” by Mary Soon Lee

Songs of Eretz Poetry Review is pleased to present “Life without Makeup” by Mary Soon Lee, Poet of the Week.  A brief biography of Ms. Lee may be found here:  http://eretzsongs.blogspot.com/2015/03/poet-of-week-mary-soon-lee.html.

Life without Makeup
Mary Soon Lee

The hours not spent
Painting my skin
Provide an opportunity
To properly contemplate
The hairiness of my toes.

Poet's Notes:  I do not wear makeup and, regrettably, I do indeed have hairy toes.

Editor’s Note:  Tanka-like and humorous!  Life without Makeup” first appeared in Main Street Rag, Volume 9, Number 1, Spring 2004.
