Poetry Review Special Feature: "Twenty" by the Editor

the rock of your life stands before you still rough
in places deceptively smooth in others
strong at the base a figure takes
shape but the final result
 could go in many
directions as
the chisel
of Time
shapes
and
molds chips
and cuts the
discarded pieces
crumble to sand and
pour into the lower half of
your hourglass the magnificence
of the final product still undetermined
but under the control of your steady hand and eye
