Review of "They Were Not Kidding in the Fourteenth Century" by Maureen McLane

They Were Not Kidding in the Fourteenth Century by Maureen McLane was offered by Poets.org's Poem-A-Day on July 1, 2013.  The poem hints that the intensity of courtly love was greater in the Dark Ages, probably because life was so short and difficult.  The poem concludes with the sentiment that courtly love in today's easier times takes too much effort--perhaps too much effort to be bothered.
