Review of "Note to Self" by Hans Hergot

"Note to Self" by Hans Hergot appeared in Daily Science Fiction on June 4, 2013.  "A man has the opportunity to send a 6-word message to his past self."

I could not help but identify with the MC in this well-written story--a nice family man living paycheck to paycheck but otherwise happily married with children.  I expected him to write something that would give his past self a chance at radically changing his future--lottery numbers, perhaps.  What he winds up writing to his past self at first disappointed me, but then, on reflection, nearly blew me away.  I love it when that happens.  6 out of 7 rocket-dragons.

  1. Thanks for the review. The story idea came from those six words. I had been thinking about what I would tell myself if I could and weighing the pros and cons. As it so often happens, a line of dialogue came to mind. And I was like, yeah, that's the answer.
