Review of "Swan Song" by Melissa Mead

"Swan Song" by Melissa Mead appeared in Daily Science Fiction on April 24, 2013 as part of the e-zine's every-other-Wednesday faerie tale series.  "An injured faerie laments that she cannot fly."

Flash fiction is difficult to write well.  The author must establish genre, an MC, a plot, climax, and resolution with ruthless efficiency.  There is the kernel of a complete story in "Swan Song," but the grain perhaps needed more words to germinate.  2 out of 7 rocket-dragons.
